You can now use Product Search for Projects using the InMigration Product Catalog Model in public beta. This lets you migrate your storefront search in stages when moving from the Classic to the Modular catalog model. Instead of a single cutover, transitioning gradually gives you more control and flexibility over the migration process.

In the InMigration state, Product Search continues to index embedded Variants by default. However, it can be configured to index products using standalone Variants in a dedicated search index copy.

This configuration is available upon request to the commercetools support team. Once configured, Product Search maintains two separate copies of your search index: one based on embedded Variants and the other on standalone Variants.

You can query the standalone Variants index by adding the x-ab-test-id: modular-catalog header to your Product Search request. When the header is omitted, the search index based on embedded Variants is queried instead.
