By passing the exam, you: - Join a cohort of internationally recognized commercetools professionals. - Receive a digital badge for your LinkedIn, Meetup, or Xing profile. - Support your team and company in winning and delivering successful projects. ## Certifications offered ### Composable Commerce Functional Architect Target audience: Functional and System Analysts, Technical Consultants, Project Leads, Solution Architects, and Technical Managers. Exam topics: - Use core commercetools Composable Commerce features correctly and answer basic and advanced questions related to setup and use - Map business requirements to current features within commercetools Composable Commerce - Model commercetools Composable Commerce data structures (such as Products, Prices, and Shipping Methods) - Answer basic questions related to the integration of commercetools Composable Commerce with third-party systems ### Composable Commerce Developer Target audience: Software Developers, Technical Team Leads, and Technical Solution Architects. Exam topics: - Use commercetools Composable Commerce functionality correctly and answer basic and advanced setup, usage, and coding-level questions - Use the selected SDK correctly and apply SDK middleware, logging, and error handling appropriately - Model and optimize data structures (Products, Prices, and Shipping Methods) - Answer basic and advanced integration questions with third-party systems - Manage the data lifecycle in a commercetools Composable Commerce Project and optimize import and export operations - Contextualize data for frontends (Stores, Channels, and Customer Groups) ## How to get certified There are two paths to initial certification, followed by annual renewal: ### Initial certification 1. Complete a preparation path. Choose one: - Attend a [training course](https://commercetools.com/training) designed to prepare you for the exam (Option A). - Study independently and then join a shorter [exam prep session](https://commercetools.com/training#exam-preparation-courses) (Option B). 2. Take the proctored exam. After completing your preparation path, you are eligible to take the exam. 3. Review and retry if needed. - If you do not pass on your first attempt, you can attend a free exam review session with a commercetools trainer. - This session grants you a second attempt at the exam. - If you do not pass the second attempt, you must pay the certification fee again for additional attempts. Each renewal extends the certification's validity for one additional year. To maintain certification status and count toward your employer's certified staff, you must renew annually by October. The renewal exam is open from March to October each year. ### How to renew your certification To extend your certification for another year, you must pass a renewal exam. We provide free refresher courses that cover key product enhancements from the past year, which are included in the exam questions. It is also important to consider any commitments your company may have regarding training and certification, as solution partners often commit to maintaining a certain number of certified staff. Functional exams do not include coding questions. Yes. If a question has multiple correct answers and you select some, but not all, of the correct options, you will receive partial credit. Yes. The cost includes: - A first exam attempt. - A certification test review session if the first attempt is not successful. - A second exam attempt. If you fail your first attempt, contact our training department at [training@commercetools.com](mailto:training@commercetools.com). You are eligible to attend a free certification test review session where a commercetools trainer will highlight areas for improvement to help you prepare for your second attempt. If you fail your second attempt, you must pay the certification fee again to receive additional attempts. Depending on your result, you may also be advised to re-attend a training session. ### Exam policies and rules Yes. commercetools uses live proctoring to ensure the integrity of the certification process. You are required to join a Zoom meeting with your camera on to participate in the exam. Yes. Our exams are open-book, and we encourage you to consult the publicly available reference documentation. You can also use your own written notes. However, using chatbots, AI tools, or receiving help from other people is prohibited. You can use any development and coding tools at your disposal, including your own IDE and the [Merchant Center API Playgrounds](https://docs.commercetools.com/merchant-center/developer-settings.md#api-playgrounds). The use of AI tools is not allowed. The commercetools AI Assistant and any other AI tools are prohibited during the certification exam. We monitor the use of the AI Assistant during exam times, and any use will result in a failed attempt. The exam questions and answer options are under strict commercetools copyright. Recording, storing, copying, and taking screenshots of them is strictly prohibited. This includes copying text into other software. If you lose your internet connection, your entered answers are automatically saved, but the exam timer will continue. Ensure your connection is stable before starting. If your connection is not restored, you may need to use your second attempt. No. Although the exam is open-book, you must complete it on your own without assistance from others. ### Exam results and certificates If you are logged in, you can find your badges on our [self-learning page](https://docs.commercetools.com/docs/learning.md). We currently offer [three certifications](https://commercetools.com/certification/commercetools-certification). Your digital badge will show the name of the certificate and the year it was obtained or renewed. No, your manager is not notified directly. If your company is a signed partner, they can receive an overview report of all certified staff through their commercetools contact. We use a digital badge system and do not provide printable PDF certificates. You will receive a digital badge to display online. ### Certification validity and renewal Your certification is valid for the calendar year in which you obtained it and is counted towards your employer's certification count until October of the following year. You must renew it before the October deadline to keep it active. You must renew your certification annually. The renewal exam is open from March to October. We recommend renewing as early in the year as possible to avoid missing the October deadline for the previous year's certifications. Yes. You will receive a new badge after each successful renewal. The badge will state the calendar year of the renewal. commercetools products are constantly evolving with new features and capabilities. Recertification ensures your skills remain current with the latest updates. Additionally, signed partners must maintain up-to-date certifications to verify their capabilities. The renewal exam includes self-learning modules designed to update you on new content released in the past year.
