Identity overview

One account for all commercetools products.

Identity is an authentication service that provides access to commercetools business tools and other offerings using a single account. This ensures a more consistent and secure experience, helping us build better, more integrated experiences in the future.

In August 2025, we began adding Identity support to our business tools and services, starting with the Studio. Over the next few months, we'll add support for other offerings. After Identity support is added to a tool or service, users must use their Identity account to sign in.

Benefits:

  • Manage one account instead of multiple accounts.
  • Use Single Sign-On (SSO) across all commercetools business tools and services.

Identity only provides authentication to commercetools business tools and services. Managing permissions and access within the tools doesn't change.

Identity migration

Currently, only Frontend Studio supports authentication with Identity.

Merchant Center information

  • If your company uses SSO in one or more Merchant Center Organizations, Identity SSO will replace these implementations to streamline authentication.
  • To ensure a smooth transition, customers and partners who use SSO in Merchant Center should begin migrating to Identity now. To do this, set up your SSO configuration and have users sign up for their individual Identity accounts.
  • If you're an IT administrator, read our frequently asked questions page for more details about this transition.
