Identity overview

One account for all commercetools products.

Identity is an authentication service that provides access to commercetools business tools and other offerings using a single account.

Currently, if you use Merchant Center, Studio, or any of our other offerings, you have separate accounts to manage. Identity improves this experience by consolidating these accounts into a single one. This ensures a more consistent and secure experience, and allows us to build better, more integrated experiences for you in the future.

Identity will launch first with support for the Studio on 26 August, 2025. Merchant Center support will be added later in September 2025. Over time, we'll add support for more tools and services.

Benefits:

  • One account to manage instead of multiple ones.
  • Improved enterprise-grade security authentication flows, including Single Sign-On (SSO) with OpenID Connect (OIDC).

  • All users must create an Identity account.

Merchant Center information

  • For companies that use SSO within one or more Merchant Center Organizations, Identity will replace these implementations to streamline authentication.
  • To ensure a smooth transition, customers and partners who use SSO in the Merchant Center are encouraged to migrate to Identity before the official launch.
  • For the Merchant Center launch of Identity, we'll communicate the launch date and additional information as it becomes available via our Customer Success Managers (CSMs) and the Merchant Center release notes page.
