A commercetools certification validates your knowledge and skills, providing feedback on your learning progress. By passing the exam, you:

Composable Commerce Functional Architect

• Use core commercetools Composable Commerce features correctly and answer basic and advanced questions related to setup and use
• Map business requirements to current features within commercetools Composable Commerce
• Model commercetools Composable Commerce data structures (such as Products, Prices, and Shipping Methods)
• Answer basic questions related to the integration of commercetools Composable Commerce with third-party systems

Composable Commerce Developer

• Use commercetools Composable Commerce functionality correctly and answer basic and advanced setup, usage, and coding-level questions
• Use the selected SDK correctly and apply SDK middleware, logging, and error handling appropriately
• Model and optimize data structures (Products, Prices, and Shipping Methods)
• Answer basic and advanced integration questions with third-party systems
• Manage the data lifecycle in a commercetools Composable Commerce Project and optimize import and export operations
• Contextualize data for frontends (Stores, Channels, and Customer Groups)

How to get certified

There are two paths to initial certification, followed by annual renewal:

Initial certification

1. Complete a preparation path. Choose one:
   • Attend a training course designed to prepare you for the exam (Option A).
   • Study independently and then join a shorter exam prep session (Option B).
2. Take the proctored exam. After completing your preparation path, you are eligible to take the exam.
3. Review and retry if needed.
   • If you do not pass on your first attempt, you can attend a free exam review session with a commercetools trainer.
   • This session grants you a second attempt at the exam.
   • If you do not pass the second attempt, you must pay the certification fee again for additional attempts.

Exam details

Format and structure

All certification exams share the following format:

• Duration: 100 minutes
• Questions: 60 multiple-choice questions
• Format: Open-book and online
• Passing Score: 80%
• Proctoring: Live-proctored

What is prohibited

After certification: Validity and renewal

Certification validity

• Certifications are valid for the year they are issued and until October of the following calendar year.
• To maintain an active certification, you must renew it annually by passing a free, online renewal exam. Each renewal extends the certification's validity for one additional year.

How to renew your certification

To extend your certification for another year, you must pass a renewal exam. We provide free refresher courses that cover key product enhancements from the past year, which are included in the exam questions. You can access the renewal exam at the end of each refresher module.
