The Merchant Center now supports Projects that use the Modular product catalog model. In these Projects, Product Variants are managed as standalone resources, so you can model, publish, and unpublish Variants independently from their parent Product without the limits of the Classic model.

When using the Modular product catalog model, from the Merchant Center, you can also target Variants with Cart Discounts, assign Variants to Product Selections, and find Variants by SKU when adding line items to Carts or Orders.
