How to sign up and set up your Project.

This page will help you get started with your free trial and set up your first Project.

Have you received an email invite to sign up at the Merchant Center? That's great, someone has probably created a Project already and invited you to join their team. In such a case, you can skip the steps on this page and follow the instructions in the email invite to set up your account.

commercetools offers a 60-day trial period to everyone who wants to explore and try the toolset.

Hosting is supported via Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) across several regions (North America, Europe, Australia).

Choose the region that is closest to your customers to ensure optimal performance and follow one of the links below to sign up to the Merchant Center for your preferred region:

Sign up to Merchant Center

The Merchant Center is where you manage your Projects, invite team members, and create API Clients for your commerce applications. You'll need an account to start your free trial.

To sign up for the Merchant Center in your selected region, do the following:

  1. In the Merchant Center login screen, click Create new Account > Start free trial. You will be redirected to a web form.
  2. Click Complete the form, enter your details in the form, and then click Submit and start your free trial. An email with a sign-up link will be sent to the email address you provided.

    The email address that you use cannot be changed later.

    The sign-up link is valid for 72 hours.

    If you haven't received an email invite, check your spam/bulk folder or sign up using a personal email address (as your company may have strict policies that block the emails).

  3. Click the sign-up link in your email, enter a strong password, and click Create account.

Upon completing the sign-up process, you'll be redirected to your account to create a Project. All newly created Projects have a 60-day trial period.

Unless you log out, your account will remain logged in for 30 days. If your Organization uses SSO, then you can reduce this to a duration of either 1-24 hours or 1-29 days.

Set up your Project

After you've signed up to Merchant Center, do the following:

  1. Select how you want to set up your Project.

    • To start with an empty Project and enter or import your own data, select Start from scratch.
    • To use sample data, select Start with sample data. The sample data provides you with a preconfigured Project, including product data and store configuration, to help you understand how everything fits together.
  2. If you selected Start with sample data, you can choose between the following sample data sets: B2C: Lifestyle and Home or B2B: Heavy Machinery.

  3. Enter a name for your Organization and Project, and a key for the Project.

    Organizations help in managing Projects.
    A Project key must be unique. If a Project with the given key exists, use another key.
  4. Activate the Product Search API.
