Using market permissions

Learn how to create, edit, and use market permissions.

A market is a grouping of one or more locales. With market permissions, you can assign certain users to a market. This means that you can give access to view and edit specific market-related content to particular users in your Team.

Prerequisites

  • You must have a minimum of five locales within your Project.
  • You must have the same components across all markets.

Global market users and specific market users

Market permission users are of two types:

  • Global market users: have access to all markets and to Studio actions based on their role.
  • Specific market users: have restricted access to only certain markets and to Studio actions based on their role.

Global market users

Users who are assigned to the Global market can view all sections of the Studio and perform all actions based on their role. In addition, Global market users can use the market selection list to select a specific market (such as Switzerland or Belgium) that they want to view.

You can assign Developer-related roles only to the Global market, and not to any other market.

Specific market users

Users who are assigned to specific markets can view the content and components of only those markets that are relevant to their role. They have the permission to access the following areas:

  • Site builder
  • Dynamic pages
  • Templates:
    • Component groups
    • Page templates (view only)
  • Media
  • Team
Specific market users can edit content based on the translatable fields in schemas or if they create a page version only for that specific market.

A user with specific market permissions can't make any changes to a page version available in the Global market, such as adding a component or adjusting a component's settings. However, they can duplicate the Global page version and then customize the content of the duplicated page version to adapt it for their specific market. This helps ensure that the content and components of the Global market as well as other markets are not affected.

Create a market permission

Only users with the Admin role can create a market permission.

  1. From the Studio home page or from the left menu, go to Team.
  2. Click Market permissions.
  3. Click Create market permission.
  4. Enter a name for the market permission, and then select the required locales. Only the locales that aren't already assigned to a market are displayed in the Select locales list. The default locale is not displayed for the Global market.
  5. Click Create permission.

Assign a user to a market

  1. From the Studio home page or from the left menu, go to Team.
  2. Click Market permissions.
  3. Click Manage team members.
  4. Select the required user.
  5. In the Markets column, use the list to assign the user to a specific market (such as Spain or Germany).

To reassign a Global market user to a specific market, clear the Global market option and then select the relevant market. After you assign a user to a market, you can't assign that user to the Global market.

When inviting a new user, you can select the market to which they will be assigned at the time of invitation.

Add an existing page folder to a market

If you have any existing page folders before market permissions is enabled, they are not automatically added to a market.

To add an existing page folder to a market, do the following:

  1. On the Studio home page, select the market as Global.
  2. From the Studio home page or from the left menu, go to Site builder.
  3. For the page folder, click the Settings icon.
  4. To enable the Save button, make any minor change to the page folder. For example, edit the page folder name, select a data source filter, or enter a description.
  5. Click Save to add the page folder to the Global market.

You can add such existing page folders only to the Global market, not to a specific market such as Germany or Italy.
